Even though everything apparently differs from your so-called-ordinariness, our lives are the seamless tapestry that covers this planet. This is not an optimistic idea based on globalism but rather based on localism.
It is too difficult to gain attention and understanding to the people suffers holocaust, dictatorship, sex slavery, extreme poverty and nuclear disasters, because it is simply inconceivable for others. Also we’ve already became too familiar with any sort of images full of violence and torture.
Massmedia tends to focus on the surface level of warfare or disasters, but each life is breathing, eating, crying, loathing and loving even under the most horrible situations.
Ed Ou’s sensitive reportages prove the power of photography rooted in localities.
