About "Koganecho Bazaar"

Two new art studios has opened in the former red-light district of Kogane-cho in Yokohama. These studios form the main venue of the event and will also serve as the location for the opening of Koganecho Bazaar. The aim of Koganecho Bazaar is to regenerate the Koganecho district through the co-existence of art and community, and it can be seen as the first step in this process.
For this event, daring not to be limited to a conventional interpretation of art, a comprehensive program is being organized that welcomes a wide range of ideas and events to reexamine the local environment, while also introducing new commercial ventures related to fashion, food and housing. As a unified whole, the festival creates a place for rich experience and it is hoped that this venture to revitalize the area will be warmly welcomed by a large number of visitors and local residents.

"Portrait Studio" Project

At one time in every city, there were photo studios that recorded important days in the lives of families. For this event a portrait studio harkening back to the past has re-opened to take commemorative photos of the Kogane-cho residents and visitors providing photo records that can't be seen in our everyday lives. Led by a photographer Takashi Arai, several photographers, such as Shigeo Anzai, participated in this project.

「黄金町バザール」について

かつて違法な特殊飲食店が軒を連ねていた横浜市黄金町に2つのアートスタジオが新しく建設され、このほか黄金町エリアの各所を拠点として、「黄金町バザール」が開催された。
黄金町バザールは、地域とアートの共存を通して街並が新しく生まれ変わることをめざす事業であり、その最初の一歩として位置づけられている。アートという枠だけにこだわらず、衣食住にわたる新しい経済活動を導入しながら、街の在り方を見直すアイデア、イベントなど多彩な分野を取り入れて全体を構成する。それらすべてが一体となって、豊かな経験が生まれる場所を作り出すこと、多くの来訪者を心から歓迎できるまちづくりと会期終了後も持続可能な事業展開を目指している。

＜写真館＞プロジェクト

かつてどの街にも在った写真館は、家族の記念日の記憶や人々の絆の記憶を残してきた。ここでは、そうした匂いを残す写真館を再現し、地域の人々や黄金町を訪れた人々の記念の写真を撮影し、日常生活の中で欠かすことのできない写真館を再現する。
会場となったのは柴田理容室となりの空き店舗で、内部の改装が行われ、暗室やギャラリースペース兼スタジオなどを備えた、写真館としてオープンした。「館主」新井による滞在制作や、安斎重男氏をはじめとする写真家によるフォト・セッション、展示、ワークショップなど、写真に関する多岐にわたる活動が展開された。
