Takashi Arai participated in Artist in Museum program at the Yokohama Museum of Art in 2006, entitled "The 3 Artists." Artist in Museum (AIMY) is the international artist-in-residence program for emerging artists hosted by the Yokohama Museum of Art (YMA) and sponsored by the Yokohama Arts Foundation.
The juried artists for the 2nd period of AIMY were 2 painters and a photographer: Hideaki Kawashima, Rai Fujii, and Takashi Arai.
Takashi finished over 30 daguerreotype-portraits and held his solo show "Rendezvous on Mirror" at the gallery in YMA.
Takashi also took part in various kind of activities during the period of residency; artist's talk, workshops, and public lecture and conversations with Shino Kuraishi (former curator of photography dept. in YMA), Mariko Takeuchi (critic) and Mika Kobayashi (researcher on photography).

アーティスト・イン・ミュージアム横浜（AIMY）は、作家が横浜美術館を中心に長期滞在しながら作品を制作し、様々な活動を行うというアートプログラムである。AIMY第2期にあたる2006年夏、画家の川島秀明、藤井雷両氏、写真家の新井卓がプログラム参加アーティストに選出さた。

新井の作品制作は、3ヶ月に渡る滞在期間中、ギャラリー内に儲けられた作業スペースで来訪者とコミュニケーションを計りながらダゲレオタイプ・ポートレイトを撮影したのち、同時開催の個展『鏡ごしのランデヴー』展の展示会場に一点ずつ作品を追加していくという方法で進められた。また期間中はオープン・スタジオ、アーティスト・トーク、美術館学芸員（当時）の倉石信乃氏によるレクチャー、写真批評家／竹内万里子氏、写真研究者／小林美香氏を迎えての対談など様々な活動が展開された。

こうして追憶というものに浸っている間はいい。想い出に向かって、わたしはなにか善いことをしよう・・・
（わたしは想い出していた、浜辺を。わたしたちは眼を、砂塵に巻かれながら両眼を、あの銅版画の泣き女たちのように、両腕で覆って辿っていった。誰もいない内湾を囲む土地の名は聞こえない、カマクラの、サクダイラの、K...K..R音の光りの飛沫がお椀のような天空に蒸発していった、）
脇の下の穴に、・・・血は出ておらず湿っていて、少女の頬のように薄桃色のドレイプが呼吸に従ってひっそりと息づいていた。
さあ、鏡を翳して
確かめてみてほしい、間違いないことを。
